What are you up to this weekend?
I’m going bowling with my office tonight. There will be lots of booze involved as all work related social events should. As for the rest of the weekend I plan on just soaking up the sun, getting in a long run, eating some dim sum here, and obviously watching hockey. Let’s go Wild!
I just finished reading The Book of Speculation* by Erika Swyler and it was amazing! I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy from Goodreads – do you use that site, because you should. The story revolves around a young librarian, Simon who is given the journal of an owner of a traveling circus from centuries ago that has a distant relative’s name in it. He soon discovers that the women of his family all drown on July 24th. Could his family be cursed? And if so, can he break it? I obviously know the answers to all of these questions and you could to if you get the book when it’s released June 23rd.
This song has been stuck in my head all week.
Have you heard of Graze? It’s similar Nature box in the sense it sends you healthy snacks but these snacks are individually portioned. I did do Nature Box for awhile but I actually like this one better. I like how it has more dried fruit options. Also I’d say the snacks are healthier than Nature Box. Nature Box is great in the sense that they are all whole food snacks but whole food does not necessarily equate to healthy food (i.e. Dark Chocolate Nom Noms). If you do the 4 snack option it’s $1.75 a snack or the 8 pack option is $1.50 per snack. Which is the same price I pay for my Chobani yogurt or Kind bars (3 for $5 on sale) so it’s justified. Also you can choose the frequency of getting your orders whether weekly, biweekly, or monthly. This is a great option especially for people like me who would just binge on their Nature Box snacks all in one week -_-
And here are some of my other favorite links from around the web:
10 Tricks to Appear Smart in Meetings – Absolutely Hilarious
A Treadmill that feels like running outside – Not sure if I buy it but I would be keen on testing it out. I loathe running indoor on treadmills. Loathe!
Decorative Document Throw Pillows – These would make awesome wedding gifts or what about a throw pillow of a baby shower invite for the rocker in the nursery? I could go on and on. Basically these would make amazing gifts for many occasions.
Baked Asparagus Fries – Great, now I’m hungry.
Pint of Science** – If you like science and beer, this is your scene. But no prior science knowledge is necessary. Pint is having a science festival May 18th-20th in major cities around the U.S. I went last year and it was great. Their mission is to bring science to the general public in informal settings aka bars. And they do a great job of it.
*I received the advanced copy of The Book of Speculation so that I could review it on Goodreads. My reviews are always honest and this is personal (not paid) recommendation of the book because I honestly really enjoyed it and think you will too.
**I’m helping organize one of the events for Pint of Science 2015 in NYC. But even if I wasn’t I would still recommend going because last year I had a blast.
